Package A – Lake Manyara, Serengeti, Ngorongoro & Tarangire
Day 1 – Lake Manyara National Park
After breakfast you will be taken to Lake Manyara national park with picnic lunch
From the entrance gate, the road winds through an expanse of lush jungle-like groundwater forest where hundred-strong baboon troops lounge nonchalantly along the roadside, blue monkeys scamper nimbly between the ancient mahogany trees, dainty bushbuck tread warily through the shadows, and outsized forest hornbills honk cacophonously in the high canopy.
Contrasting with the intimacy of the forest is the grassy floodplain and its expansive views eastward, across the alkaline lake, to the jagged blue volcanic peaks that rise from the endless Masai Steppes. Large buffalo, wildebeest and zebra herds congregate on these grassy plains, as do giraffes – some so dark in coloration that they appear to be black from a distance.
Overnight night from Lake Manyara based lodges or Karatu Area
Day 2 & Day 3 – Serengeti National Park
After breakfast, you will be taken to the Serengeti , game drive on route.
This land is justifiably famous for its huge concentrations of wildlife, especially the big cats, as well as being the stomping ground of the Great Migration, a massive accumulation of 1.5 million wildebeest, 200,000 zebras and 350,000 gazelles stretching their legs over 1,200 miles in an annual race to find enough water and green grass for their survival.
Few lifetime experiences can beat that of watching over a million wildebeest plus hundreds of thousands of gazelles and zebra – followed by their predators – embark on a 1 000km-long circular trek through unfenced Kenya and Tanzania in search of seasonal pasture and water. This natural spectacle is both thrilling and profoundly moving. But with its high biological diversity (it is home to over 100 mammals), the Serengeti also offers rewarding year-round adventure and intimate wildlife experiences, with exceptional, high-density game viewing as well as significant large predator-prey interactions.
You will spend time in the south and central parts of the Serengeti.
Overnight from Serengeti Sopa Lodge , Serengeti Serena Lodge, Serengeti Simba Lodge or Serengeti Ang’ata camp.
Day 4 – Ngorongoro Crater Game Drive
After breakfast and game drive on route, you will taken to the Crater known as the ”eighth wonder of the world” with picnic lunch boxes for half day crater game drive
The Ngorongoro Crater is the world’s largest intact caldera in an exceptional geographical position, forming a spectacular bowl of about 265 sq km with sides up to 600m deep. It is the stalking ground of 20 – 30,000 wild animals at any one time.
The crater floor consists of a number of ecological environments that include grassland, swamps, forests and Lake Makat, a central soda lake filled by the Munge River. All these various habitats attract various wildlife to drink, wallow, graze, hide or climb.
Although animals are free to move in and out of this contained environment, the rich volcanic soil, lush forests and spring source lakes on the crater floor tend to incline both grazers and predators to remain throughout the year.
The Crater rim, over 2,200 metres high, touches swathes of clouds for most days of the year, with cool high altitude vapors that seem to bring a clean lightness to the air, and also a chill. These highlands wake up to a misty fog in most months.
Overnight lodges in the Karatu Area
Day 5- Tarangire National Park
Early breakfast then taken to Tarangire National Park for game drive.
Herds of up to 300 elephants plough the dry river bed for underground streams, while migratory wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, impala, gazelle, hartebeest and eland crowd the shrinking lagoons. Tarangire forms the greatest concentration of wildlife outside the Serengeti ecosystem in Tanzania – a haven for predators – and the one place in Tanzania where dry-country antelope such as the stately fringe-eared oryx and peculiar long-necked gerenuk are regularly observed. During the rainy season, the seasonal visitors scatter over a 20,000 sq km (12,500 sq miles) range until they exhaust the green plains and the river calls once more. But Tarangire’s herds of elephant can easily be encountered, wet or dry. The swamps, tinged green all year round, are the focus for 550 bird varieties, the most breeding species in one habitat anywhere in the world.
We recommend a evening return to the airport or to your next destination.
